THE CHALLENGE

Founded in 1960, the American Montessori Society (AMS) is known for its commitment to promoting the quality, authenticity, and integrity of Montessori education across the globe and advocating for its 23k+ members. The American Montessori Society has many messages to convey across many audiences, and while the AMS website offered a plethora of information, it was seeing a decline in web traffic and frequent page abandonment.
AMS needed a complete site replatform and redesign to streamline content, improve the site map, and deliver a more intuitive user experience with targeted content for key audiences of families, teachers, administrators, teacher educators, and adult learners.
The need for a more personalized website experience became essential to engage these diverse user groups effectively and encourage long-term interaction.

Tailored design and web development strategies were employed by Amsive to enhance the American Montessori Society’s content discoverability and engagement, making the site more intuitive for new and existing users. This approach created opportunities for new memberships and content access. It was also important to implement website personalization, ensuring content and interactions could be dynamically tailored to each user’s needs and preferences.
To further enhance visibility and engagement, Amsive worked to implement a strategy focused on improving search engine performance and user access to valuable content. The team aimed to increase web traffic by ensuring that key content, including blogs, PDFs, and articles, was indexable by Google, helping to boost organic search results.
Amsive’s strategy sought to optimize content for indexing and search performance, allowing users to easily access relevant articles and other resources. With these refined plans, focus was directed toward boosting both user acquisition and content engagement.

THE SOLUTION
Supercharging content access and searchability.
Amsive conducted proprietary primary research to better understand four key audience segments’ needs in order to optimize the web presence of the American Montessori Society, focusing on improving how content was organized on the site while ensuring it would appear in search engines and making it easier for audiences to find and access valuable resources.
A key component of the strategy was making that content fully indexable by Google, which drove better results in SERP rankings. This innovative approach provided the American Montessori Society with better search engine performance, making its digital assets more accessible and engaging to prospective program enrollees.
Amsive’s developers also enhanced the site by building a custom front-end application that empowers users to easily update key data and search for schools in real time. The solution integrates ReactJS, WordPress, Association Anywhere, and Algolia to deliver a seamless, user-friendly experience.
This integration enables deep search functionality and personalized user experiences with improved accuracy, speed, and relevance. Users can now search through key documents, such as the monthly AMS magazine dating back to 2007, which was previously difficult to access.
Additionally, Amsive implemented membership integration to restrict access to content based on membership level. A custom WordPress Full Site Editing setup also ensures that almost anything on the site is editable through WordPress Content Wise, simplifying content management and making it easier for the AMS team to keep the site up to date.
Permission-based editing, a dynamic map view, and faceted search functionality all work together to improve usability, data accuracy, and discoverability for both member schools and Teacher Education Programs.
The enhanced platform supported lead generation and tracking by encouraging parent engagement through gated content and subscription opportunities.

The site now also allows for member-editable directories, is fully integrated with HubSpot CRM for tracking user journeys, and include dedicated sections for podcasts and events.
