Ever since the Friendster and Myspace days, coming up with a clever yet personal bio section has always seemed to be the most difficult part about entering any digital platform. Now, don’t get me wrong, I am all about the funny emoji’s but making sure you are covering all your bases in your bio section is just as important as the content you put out on your social media platforms i.e. Blogger, Instagram, Twitter, Google+, etc.
Our Amsive Digital team is here to help guide you through the process of creating the best bio by optimizing your bio section, but still retaining the personality and essence of your brand.
Get yourself out of your head. You know what your brand and your site is about and the personality it embodies. Approach your bio as a third party who is visiting your site for the first time.
Stick with a theme. Make sure to choose a theme that resonates with the readers/visitors to your site. Always keep them in mind and think about what types of people are going to be stumbling on your site. Think about what impression you want the user to get before scrolling through the content on the site.
Avoid lengthy and round about content. Let’s be honest, as soon as we see a lengthy bio page we immediately skim through it and jump straight into the juicy content on the site. Keeping your word count low is more pleasing to the eye and makes it easier to read.
Stay Human. It’s no secret that people respond better to people than a robot, so keep your bio organic and add personal and witty information that will keep the visitor engaged and thus will increase your site engagement. Adding any personal information adds dimension and credibility to your site.
Give people pathways to connect with you in your bio and make sure to link to your other social media sites, such as: Google+, Twitter, Blogs, Facebook Business Page, LinkedIn
Do not clutter your bio with links to several platforms. Choose one or two relevant links that make sense link out to.
Note: Linking to your personal Facebook page is considered a “No No” in the media world, since it is considered as personal information and usually not relevant to your business.
