POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Welding / Sewing Lead is responsible for all activities related to Large Format Finishing. This includes but is not limited to quality of products produced, welding, sewing, assembling banner stands, SLA Timing, staffing performance and daily production reporting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ensure all finishing requirements are met in accordance with Amsive
  • Welding / Sewing SOP and customer specific demands.
  • Maintain an open line of communication with managers and project managers, verbal and written.
  • Give direction to all staff on the finishing or any other area of responsibility assigned and routinely check on stages of finishing, welding, sewing, banner packing, etc.
  • Ensure all Environmental Health and Safety requirements are met in kit packing areas.
  • Alert of any potential conflicts that jeopardize on time shipments.
  • Utilize production schedule to plan projects in accordance with due dates.
  • Maintain an organized workflow with planned entry and exit points on welding and sewing tables.
  • Work at a fast-pace with frequently changing daily demands.
  • Perform / ensure completion of housekeeping daily before the end of each day.
  • Assist in special duties and projects as required by Management.
    • Operate and maintain industrial sewing machines and related parts.
    • Troubleshoot basic machinery problems and/or request service as needed.
    • Sew seam on pre-cut vinyl following sample.
    • Assemble pieces of vinyl based on order and patterns.
    • Inspect and repair finished product.
    • Place finished product in box for next steps.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2 + years experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Effective process management skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to multi-task.
  • Experience in a sign/wide format print production environment.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The Welding / Sewing Team Lead reports directly to the Manager of Finishing – Large Format.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work hours are 7am to 3pm M-F with some weekends and overtime

  • Strength: Occasionally must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position will spend most of the time working in a production area that is relatively loud with limited time in a professional office environment. This position regularly requires long hours and frequent weekend work.
