How to Give Account Access to Your Marketing Agency Partner

A key part of the agency-client onboarding process is providing account access. We aim to keep these necessary steps as simple as possible for all our current and prospective client partners.

Here are up-to-date directions for the biggest digital and social platforms to ensure smooth account access and easy user addition. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your sales representative.

Here are step-by-step instructions to allow access to your Google Ads account.

  1. Please provide the agency with the Client ID for each account.
    1. You can find the 10-digit Client ID at the top of the page when you are in Google Ads.
  2. Once the agency has received the ID(s) from you, they will request permission through Google Ads to pull your account(s) into their Manager account.
  3. You will receive an email from Google once they have requested permission. Upon receipt, please go into the Account Access section of AdWords and approve the request.
    1. To get to the Account Access section, click the Settings icon on the top, right-hand side of the page. (The icon is a gear.)
    2. Then, click Account Settings.
    3. Once the page has loaded, click on Account Access in the left-hand side menu.



Google Analytics Access

Here are step-by-step instructions to add a user who has “Edit” permissions to your Google Analytics account.

  1. Sign in to your Google Analytics account.
  2. Select the Admin tab and navigate to the desired account/property.
  3. In the ACCOUNT column, click Account Access Management.
  4. Under Account Access Management, click on the blue plus sign at the top right corner, click on “Add Users” and enter (PROVIDED EMAIL).
  5. Select Notify this User by email to send a notification to each user added.
  6. Select the “Editor” permission level.
  7. Click Add.


Google Tag Manager Access

Here are step-by-step instructions to add a user who has administrator-level access to your Google Tag Manager account.

  1. Go to Admin in the navigation menu.
  2. Click User Management.
  3. Click plus symbol (+) in the top right.
  4. Click Add Users and add (PROVIDED EMAIL).
  5. Check Administrator box.
  6. Click Container Permission Set all.
  7. Check all boxes: Publish, Approve, Edit, Read.


Google Search Console Access

Here are step-by-step instructions to add an owner or user to your Google Search Console account.

To add an owner:

  1. Choose a property in Search Console.
  2. Click the gear icon and select Users & Property Owners.
  3. Click the Manage property owners link.
  4. In the Verified owners section, click Add an owner. (Any owners you add are actually delegated owners, not verified owners.)
  5. Add (PROVIDED EMAIL) and click Continue.
  6. The property will be added to the new owner’s Search Console account automatically.

To add a user:

  1. Choose a property in Search Console.
  2. Click the gear icon and select Users & Property Owners.
  3. Click Add a new user.
  4. Add (PROVIDED EMAIL) and select the type of user: full.
  5. Click Add.
  6. The property will be added to the new user’s Search Console account automatically.


Microsoft Ads Access

Here are step-by-step instructions to add a user to your Microsoft Ads account.

  1. Please send the agency your Microsoft Ads account number.

LinkedIn Access

Here are step-by-step instructions to add a user to your LinkedIn account.

  1. Click Please add me to your Linkedin Connection.
  2. Send connection request and the agency will accept the invite.
  3. Once the agency has accepted the invite, navigate to your Linkedin Ad Account. Click on the gear icon and click Manage access.
    1. Click Edit.
    2. Click Add user to account.
    3. Search for the agency representative and grant Account Manager Access.
    4. Click Save changes.


Facebook Ads Manager Access

Here are step-by-step instructions to allow access to manage your Facebook account.

  1. Navigate to the Ad Account tab in your Business Manager and click Assign Partner.
  2. Enter the agency ID number, given to you by the agency, and assign a role.

Twitter Ads Manager Access

Here are step-by-step instructions to add a user to your Twitter account.

  1. Login in and navigate to the account dropdown. (You must be logged in to an account administrator handle to grant other users access to the account.)
  2. In the dropdown, click the Edit access to account button.
  3. To begin adding more users, click the Add more users… button.
  4. Enter the agency and grant Ad Manager access.
  5. Allow the agency to create limited delivery Tweets for use in campaigns.
  6. Click Save.
